mood:

Last entry; August 5.
I simply must remember to not forget this thing.
So yea, all up until August 23 I worked at the Wegmans Deli, enjoying the wonderous world of deli meats. Boiled ham, smoked ham, brown sugar cured ham, maple cured ham, honey ham, wafer turkey, fat free turkey, oven roasted turkey, smoked turkey, sliced thick, sliced thin, wafered and shaved, holy hell I have no life!!
x.x
Its a job, and nobody likes a job.Granted, it did pay rather well.
But that's over for now and I get to sit in the Dickinson dining hall, enjoying an unexpected breakfast on account of the fact that I got myself up at about 8:15 to go to a class that starts at 10. Moral of the story, don't let foxes do math early in the morning. The math department is apparently not aware of this, hence my 8 AM calculus course every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
On the bright side, nobody heckles me to wake up in the morning if don't wanna. ^>^
Almost time for that class, see ya in the next post, probably appearing in October. :-p

Work Work Work

Work.
I've been doing that a lot lately. I got that job at Wegmans food markets over a month ago and even though it's a part time job, its eating up its fair share of time.
There's not much to say, I work in a deli, it's quite repetitive at times and I don't stop moving around much at all, but it's money, and at minimum wage, I can pull 190.00 on a good week.
I'll post again when I have something worth saying.

It figures that the night before I start my new job in the Prepared foods section of Wegmans I'd go and get my thumb cut on a piece of broken glass while cleaning my workshop.
Brilliant.
Oh well, gloves anyone?

music: I Want Out by Sonata Arctica
Looking at my wallet and checking account combined, I've got about $20 for the next couple weeks. All this graduation and Senior stuff has downed me at least $150 in the past week and I gotta start saving for stuff in college and other things.
x.x
What I really need is a job. I've lost hope in Wegmans, I had an interview last Monday but they have yet to call me back, even after I've left a message requesting that they call me back. We're getting a new Wallgreens so hopefully I can get a job there, seeing as Guardian won't even let me apply until I have my diploma and Dad's contact at G.W. Lisk seems hopeless.
I had the house to myself all last week since Mother was in Alabama visiting my Grandmother who just had surgery to remove some lung cancer, I really did enjoy the freedom, was sad when she came back.
So this summer looks full of work, but if I'm lucky I'll be visited by a very good friend.
College is soon, thank god! That's all for now, should have some video stuff done in the next week or so.

Aha! I finally finished a project!
Last Christmas I bought myself a pair of Grado SR-80 headphones to go with my new Minidisk player. The headphones sounded awesome but even though they are pretty efficient, they are low impedance. They require a lot of current to get them to work properly and the tiny little chip in the Minidisk player just Isn't able to supply the kind of current that the headphones want. I did some research on this and found out that many audiophiles build separate amplifiers for their headphones. The one design that popped out at me was a simple Opamp based one designed by Chu Moy. I tinkered around with it and a year later I had this:

You can see the output connector, input cable, and the volume knob that I snagged from an old stereo in this shot:

Open it up and you can see some things I did differently with my design, mainly the 18v dual ended power supply instead of a single 9v with a virtual ground. The slide switch on the inside turns it on and off. Originally I was going to find a place to mount it on the outside, but for the sake of getting it done when I was putting it together I just shoved it in there. It actually works out very well, you don't need the power switch on the outside anyway. Gives me another excuse to open it up and show it off to people.

Even using an opamp that I scrounged out of an old tape deck and metal film resistors liberated from the graphic EQ of an old stereo, this thing sounds great and is dead silent. It really does give my headphones some nice kick, and for the invested price of about $10 for random things like the potentiometer and the connectors, it rocks.
EDIT: Got a more detailed webpage up here - http://daxter12.topcities.com/electroni cs/cmoy/cmoy.htm

Holy hell, I haven't updated in over a month.
Whatever was pending from last posts has been dropped in favor of me not getting overwhelmed with too much stuff right now, so maybe it will come, probably not.
Wonder if someone will play me this song for my birthday?
Pretty brutal eh?

Musical bliss

Our school musical is next week and they finally called the techs in for rehersals. 5 hours a night every weekday, and more on the weekends. This will get old fast, good thing its over quickly. The show is Cats and I belive it will be most interesting, though I am not yet impressed with the singing of many of the actors. Oh well, it's drama club and they've bene working hard anyway so many props to them, I give. Acting may not be the greatest though from what TJ has told me, one of our makeup people did makeup for the actual Broadway production of Cats! I find that most interesting and what little I have actually seen it will be awsome.
My father took my sister and I to the Audiotorium Theater to see Annie. It was a fantastic show! I was completely unaware that such young girls can sing so accurately! Puts most of our school to shame! It was a professional show though, so it's expected. I loved F.D.R.'s charicater though, optimistic and aloof, a fun character.
Tonight my father and I are going to see another musical at the Canandaigua Academy. The show's Beauty and the Beast. The Academy usually puts on a show though I hear it's not as good as their other ones. Best make my own desicion after seeing it.
To top all of this musical mayhem off, I bought myself a new cd! Devour the Power by Destroy Destroy Destroy. I can describe the album best as a melodic metal assault with fantastic musicianship!
Until next time!
